INDEPENDENCE WORKOUT SERIES
Here is a brand new, compact and highly effective workout series which takes your coordination skills and hand independence to the next level:
In eight mini workouts, four cowbells are featured with different subdivisions from easy (smallest cowbell) to advanced (largest cowbell). The workout series starts with basic 8th note patterns and ends with 16th notes quintuplets, based on a (1) systematic way -and a (2) musical way of learning.
INTRODUCTION
8th NOTE OSTINATO
„This workout starts relatively slowly at 110 bpm and could be used as a beginner's workout or a nice short coordination warm-up. After playing a typical, straight 8th note pattern in both hands simultaneously for two bars, the right hand continues with this pattern while the left hand systematically declines all possible two note figures in every 16th note group. This workout alternates from right-hand -to left-hand lead and truly strengthens the weaker hand, the hand independence and your comprehension of precision.“
Model: SL475-BK | Cowbell Size: XS | Workout Level: Easy
„This nice short two bar phrase is the advanced version of workout No.1: It deals with varying accents in the left hand which create a melodical phrase over two bars (lead by the right hand first, followed by left hand lead, 120 bpm). It definitely trains your melodical understanding, your thinking in longer phrases, your coordination skills and groove comprehension.“
Model: SL475-BK | Cowbell Size: XS | Workout Level: Advanced
8th NOTE TRIPLET OSTINATO
„Based on rollin' 8th note triplets, this workout deals with a leading shuffle pattern in one hand, while the other hand declines systematically all two note options of the 8th note triplets (right-hand lead first, followed by left-hand lead). If you struggle with one combination, hold on and repeat that little figure until you are aware of both hand's motion and tightness. Try to reach at least 158 bpm and keep an eye on the rollin' floatiness.“
Model: SL525-BK | Cowbell Size: S | Workout Level: Easy
„Based on a fast rollin' triplet pattern (175 bpm) this advanced 8th note triplet ostinato deals with a varying, melodical phrase in one hand, while the other hand plays a straight shuffle pattern. After two rounds leading with the right hand, the workout alternates to the left hand, which truly trains the leading ability of the weaker hand. Try to keep that energetic shuffle feel as steady, melodical and impulsive as you can.“
Model: SL525-BK | Cowbell Size: S | Workout Level: Advanced
„This relatively relaxed workout (100 bpm) combines a typical three note pattern in one leading hand with a systematical declination of all possible two note positions in a 16th note group in the other hand. Starting with right-hand lead, it definitely becomes tricky if the workout alternates to left-hand lead. This exercise can be used as a weaker hand workout, but it also strenghtens the coordination skills a lot. It is highly recommendable to practice this with a loop - try to lock into the groove as well as you can!“
Model: SL675-BK | Cowbell Size: M | Workout Level: Easy
16th NOTE OSTINATO
„This advanced workout deals with a leading 16th note pattern in one hand, while the other hand plays a varying, syncopated melody over two bars (right-hand lead first, followed by left-hand lead). Try to reach 110 bpm (which might be a little tricky for the weaker hand) and lock into the music of your choice – it definitely trains your coordination skills, musicality and precision!“
Model: SL675-BK | Cowbell Size: M | Workout Level: Advanced
QUINTUPLET 16th NOTE OSTINATO
„This advanced quintuplet workout might be a tricky one, but it's so worth to enhance time awareness, musical flow and hand independence: While one hand plays a typical steady quintuplet pattern, the other hand has to deal with a two bar melody shape, based on various positions of the 16th note quintuplets. Try to focus the technical precision and musical tightness first while learning the varying melody by heart. If you feel safe, increase the speed up to 100 bpm. It's highly recommendable to practice this workout with a loop to keep the two bar shape as groovy and musical as possible.“
Model: SL850-BK | Cowbell Size: L | Workout Level: Advanced
„This relatively relaxed quintuplet workout focusses one typical constant pattern in one hand, while the other hand declines systematically all possible two note figures within the 16th note quintuplets over two bars. If you struggle with one combination, hold on and repeat just that little figure until you are aware of both hand's motion and musical tightness (up to 90 bpm). Choose the music you prefer and lock into the groove as best you can!“
