Just like the Meinl Sonic Energy Wind Gongs, the brand's Chau Tam Tams are handcrafted in China by using the old methods and traditions which have been used to create gongs in this region for centuries. Because of the special bronze alloy and curved rim we can garanty a wide range of sound characteristics. From a sustained low hum to a brooding roar to fast explosive crashes, they work in many situations and blend well with other gongs and instruments.

The new Meinl Sonic Energy Wind Gong Yin & Yang collection is marked with Yin & Yan, which form together the so called taijitu. Yin & Yang are probably the most popular terms from Chinese philosophy. The white side is representing Yang and the black one Yin. Yang stands for sun, brightness, warmth, active giving and masculinity, whereas Yin describes exactly the opposite direction, that means darkness, calm, passive rendering, femininity, softness. Although both forces are opposed to each other, they are nonetheless related and cannot exist without each other, like for example heaven and earth or day and night. Only through the combination of the two opposite sides the whole results - a inner harmony and balance.
